Inkers Allstars proudly presents OVE the 34 year old metalhead!

Text By Jimmy Wallin

I know that you don´t like to talk about yourself, so let´s talk about Ove instead. Who is he?

Ove is an overaged metalhead that I created back in 2002. He is unemployed and lives with his mother. He has no goal in life, except to buy more records. He´supposed to look like a real guy, someone you could meet at the street or more likely at the Sweden Rock Festival. I don´t think the comic would have been as funny if I had drawn Ove in a more cartoony style.

I wanted him to have the same kind of references as me but made him a little bit older. The problem was that no one wanted to publish it until 2008 when it was printed in to different comicbooks, first a  Swedish one called Hjälp an later on in the Norwegian Kollektivet. Hjälp got cancelled after just a couple of numbers but Kollektivet lives on, and so does Ove.

When Ove finally were getting published things had changed, I was now older than Ove and metal had suddenly grown in popularity.

Are you a metalhead yourself?

No, I can´t say that I am. I listened to a lot of metal growing up, actually it was the only music you could listen to during the 80´s.

Ove mostly listen to new wave of british heavy metal, the kind of metal that I used to listen to. My old friend HARRY is heavily into metal an sometimes helpes out. Recently I discovered that I prefer the rawer more primitive Black metal variety. Niffelheim are great, I really like them. So does Ove but he prefers Iron Maiden over anything else.

You got a new book in the pipeline, tell us about it.

I sure do, it´s called Ensamhetens fort (the Fortress of Solitude) and will see print in an not to distant future. It´s a collection with shorter stories that I´ve done during the past seven years.

Im also working on the third book in my series SH3 about a group of swedish superheroes, possibly the best book I´ve ever done.

Metal and superheroes, the stuff dreams are made of!
